"Beyond" Series
I am thrilled to announce my latest work, which will be exhibited for the first time at Miami Art Week in December. Join me at the Context Art Fair, with Steidel Contemporary, as I unveil this exciting new work. I will be participating in this year's fair and would love to see you!
Each piece begins without a predetermined subject or story. I allow the texture, color, and process to lead the work as it develops. Rather than giving each piece a descriptive title, I simply number them as they are completed.
The word Beyond can mean many things. It can be beyond understanding, beyond the universe, beyond imagination, or simply beyond my front door.
I intentionally leave that space open.
I want the viewer to bring their own experiences, memories, and imagination to each piece—to see something I may never have seen myself.
The work is an invitation to look beyond what is immediately visible and discover whatever may be there for you.
Each is mounted on a "keyhole" hanger embedded in the back of the black frame, rising off the wall approximately 1.5".
Each piece is hand formed and glazed porcelain. Once out of the kiln I apply alcohol inks, a process that I would describe as "Controlled Surprises", which is actually similar to how many glazes react in the kiln firing.
Once completed, each is sealed with UV protection.
